Lives of the later Caesars : the first part of the Augustan history, with lives of Nerva and Trajan
2005
Books, Manuscripts
For all it's faults, including the brazen invention of many of the anecdotes it relates, the anonymous 'Augustan History' is the best source extant on Roman emperors between 117 & 284 AD. Anthony Birley's translation conveys the eloquence of the original.
