News has spread that "the White Wolf ain't packin' no more". Jim-twin Allen had promised his beloved Snippets to give up killing, and gave her his guns. He has been pardoned by the Governor, but if he kills again, he will be an outcast, and they will not be able to marry. The mysterious Black Hawk Gang terrorises Beaverville. Their leader is Kid Moore, brother of Allen's dead enemy Stinger Moore, who is set on revenge. Toothpick Jarrick goes after Jim-twin as the only man who can stop the Gang - but someone has learned of Toothpick's mission, and when he and Jim arrive, they are ambushed. The gang also abducts Snippets. Honouring his promise with difficulty, Jim writes to his brother Jack-twin and some fellow outlaws to come quick, the White Wolf needs them. Can he and his pack bring the Black Hawks to justice at last?
